Female ducks typically return to the same location to breed each spring, and our smart feathered lady is no exception. She has found the perfect place to nest—the warmth and safety of our secured memory care courtyard at Clarendale of Mokena. Here, her ducklings are always protected.
Everyone Helps Keep the Ducks in a Row.
The memory care residents enjoy participating in care of the baby ducks. They make sure the brood is well-fed, and they watch lovingly as Mamma Mallard leads her family (almost single-file) around the courtyard. When the mature ducklings are ready to be released, they’ll be led to the federally preserved pond on the property at Clarendale of Mokena.
